With the unknown direction of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce is actively working to support local businesses and work force. We have compiled a list of resources to provide general information about the virus and a list of applications that can help both businesses and employees.
Please physically separate your workforce as best you can. Practice social-distancing of at least six feet and limit team and department meetings.
When/if an employee tests positive for COVID-19, the health department will require you to quarantine that employee AND those with recent direct contact. For your business continuity, it’s very important to separate out your workforce NOW.
Plan for quarantined employees to be unavailable for at least 14 days, the incubation period for COVID-19.
Consider altering employee shifts and schedules to minimize overlaps. For instance, a local warehouse is switching to two teams working three days on and three days off with deep cleaning between team shifts. So when/if an employee tests positive for COVID-19, the direct-contact-quarantined-cluster of employees will be halved.
If you have employees with flu-like symptoms, such as cough or upper respiratory illness, please send them home and have them contact their doctor.

The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services also has a special site on the COVID-19 outbreak with useful details, including information geared specifically to businesses.
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention also has a comprehensive web portal with information about business preparedness and response to the coronavirus.
