You Belong Celebration

Help us celebrate Joplin and you, the many neighbors who make this community a beautiful place to belong. The first You Belong Celebration acknowledges the hard work our community has done to be a welcoming city for everyone. The anniversary of the 2020 City of Joplin proclamation on diversity, belonging, and inclusivity inspires us to continue to get better AND to celebrate our collective good work.
Two elements of this annual celebration are the solidarity walk and a table at June’s Third Thursday.
Walking Route
- 6:00 PM: Depart from City Hall, walk to 3rd and Main Street. Join Mayor Stanley, City Council members, the business community, faith leaders, and other Joplin neighbors as we walk from the route that represents the hub of our city politics, organizations, influence, and citizen representation to a common table.The Joplin Table represents where the citizens of Joplin get to meet as one community. There’s always space for more Joplin friends.
- 6:10 PM: Remarks from Mayor Stanley and Community Leaders.
- 6:20 PM: Formal portion concludes. Enjoy live music.
Why Solidarity?
We are one community, one state, one country, and one world. We can celebrate together, and we can hurt together.
Why walk?
We are resolute to see change. A walk symbolizes that all of us may join the long work ahead. Together.
